I enjoy sharing ideas I read about or have experienced in my life.  This idea centers around the sacrificial love we think of in the events of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection.  To help children understand Jesus’ sacrifice for us on the cross, you may purchase a small vine wreath at a craft store and insert toothpicks into the wreath to resemble the crown of thorns Jesus wore.  Whenever your child sacrifices for someone else they get to remove one of the thorns from the crown.

On Saturday night before Easter when the kids are asleep, you can remove the remaining thorns and decorate the crown with white and gold ribbons and bright flowers to symbolize the joy of our risen King on Easter.  When your children wake up on Easter morning your children will see the crown with all the thorns removed and the celebration of  the Risen King.
