Many of you have seen pictures and heard stories from Mariposa Team ‘07’s trip to Ethiopia last February.  Well, we are at it again.  In February Mariposa Team ’08 is travelling to southern Ethiopia to distribute eyeglasses and to perform maintenance work at the Turmi Children’s Hostel.  Forty-four children live at the hostel.  They are children of evangelists working in the tribal villages around Turmi and range in age from 6 to 16.  They live at the hostel in order to attend the government school.  Each day they do homework, have Bible training and do their chores.  Then there is some time left for playing.

The hostel was built by the Ethiopian Word of Life church.  It is staffed by several dedicated families who cook and care for the children, and lead their Bible classes.  One morning while we were there, I rose at 4 a.m. to the sound of singing and praying.  The workers spent almost an hour worshipping God before sunrise and the start of another busy day.  more
